Mr. Funnybones II

Filed under: Personal — alexboerner @ 12:15 am

Sunday night was the memorial service for Phil Kavanaugh, aka Mr. Funnybones, and it was easily the happiest celebration of one person’s life that I have ever been privileged to attend. The Armstrong room at the Blake Library, in Stuart, FL, which had become one of Phil’s main stages, was packed sweaty with people flowing out the back doors into the hallway. On stage were the colors of his life…costumes, rubber chickens, balloons and just about anything you could juggle. Someone said it was like looking inside the brain of a clown. It finished off with a raucous “21-juggler” salute onstage fitting for Sir Saint Mr. Funnybones (…or was it Saint Sir?) followed by a 10-minute video of Phil introducing The Arrogant Worms, and a small gathering for dinner afterwards.
